Bulletproof Monitors for portable church I am a worship pastor at a 2 1/2 year old church plant in Lacey, WA. We bought three of these monitors for our worship band. We pack in and pack out every week for over 130 weeks in a row. These have continued to work faithfully every single week without fail. They sound great!
They are not light however. They're made of 3/4 inch heavy plywood and are a little on the heavy side (compared to a JBL plastic model that costs three times as much) to haul around.
After a few years the speaker carpet has begun to pull away in corners and fray but we use them in ways that are harsher than most people would I imagine. I highly recommend them for a similar purpose.
Good powered monitor with a very reasonable price
I bought this monitor to use with a 4-piece rock cover band. It is plenty loud. It was running at 105 db and was still clear and undistorted. No feedback at all and runs with little to no noise. I tried to get it to clip, but no matter what I did it wouldn't. I don't think I'll ever be able to turn it to it's max volume. It only has XLR in/out. The addition of a 1/4 in/out might be a good idea for the future. Haven't had it that long, but it seems solidly built. I also have other Samson products and have been happy with them.
bought 2, one failed immediately
I bought two of these and had a three day long conference I was using them for. One cut out after about 2 hours of use. It would randomly come on and then shut off again. It seemed to me like it was overheating, because the red led came on and stayed on, but it was still cold. I powered it off and waited a few hours and it repeated the same behavior. I returned that one and the other one hasn't given me any trouble. I'm ordering a replacement for the dead one, and hoping that it will perform well. I like the one that works, a lot.
